Geophysical Survey

M.K. Services is able to offer a range of products specifically designed for those customers conducting high-resolution geophysical survey programmes.

These range from stand-alone side scan sonars and sub-bottom profilers, to systems specifically designed for incorporation into ROV’s and AUV’s.

We can also supply hydrophones, and sound velocity instruments, for deep seismic applications.

Products

C3D Side Scan Imagery and Bathymetry System (Teledyne Benthos)

The C3D design is centred around groundbreaking sonar technology called SARA-CAATI. This methodology is based on interferometry, but with the huge advantage that it can resolve concurrent arrivals from different angles, eaning it can image corners! For this reason, the system designers have described the technique as ‘beyond interferometry.’

The C3D offers a choice of operating frequencies and sensor installations (towed, ship mounted or AUV packages). Depth ratings for the tow vehicle are 3000m with a 6000m option. The system uses standard software packages for acquisition, display and storage.

C3D-LPM (Teledyne Benthos)

The C3D Lightweight Pole Mount (LPM) configuration is specifically designed for small boat operations in shallow waters (that is < 30 m).

The C3D provides co-registered side scan and bathymetry data at a resolution (5cm), which allows griding around 25cm for very fine definition of feature and bottom representation. This coupled with the wide swathe widths achievable (typically 20 x water depth for SSS, and 10 x water depth for bathymetry) make the system ideal for shallow water operations.

The C3D has the advantage of offering a unique technology to provide high resolution side scan imagery and amplitudes values for better bottom analysis and classification.

Chirp III Sub-bottom Profiler (Teledyne Benthos)

Teledyne Benthos is a pioneer in Chirp technology and was the first to bring a commercial Chirp sub-bottom profiling system to the market.

Teledyne Benthos continues that advancement with the new Chirp III sub-bottom profiling system. A lightweight and affordable system, it is also very versatile, as it’s system configuration has been designed to operate with a wide variety of tow vehicles and sound sources.

Marine Seismic Exploration Hydrophones (Teledyne Benthos)

Teledyne Benthos manufactures a number of hydrophones that are designed specifically for the marine seismic survey industry:

GeoPoint

The GeoPoint is the standard within the industry, approaching 1 million produced to date. With a rated operational performance to 200 m and fully hermetic packaging, the GeoPoint is practically indestructible. Its patented piezoceramic configuration produces the highest fidelity response available in the industry. An export version of the GeoPoint hydrophone is also available.

GeoPoint Export

The GeoPoint Export is designed to comply with current U.S.A. export restrictions to designated countries while meeting the same performance and reliability specifications as the widely accepted Geopoint hydrophone

AQ-2000 Hydrophone

The AQ-2000 hydrophone represents the latest innovative acoustic sensor technology developed by Teledyne Benthos for shallow or deep water exploration. It is well-suited for both towed streamer and ocean bottom cable (OBC) applications that require stable operating performance over a wide range of water depths. The AQ-2000 has excellent acceleration cancelling qualities and exceptionally wide frequency bandwidth.
