Teledyne Benthos manufactures a number of hydrophones that are designed specifically for the marine seismic survey industry:

GeoPoint

The GeoPoint is the standard within the industry, approaching 1 million produced to date. With a rated operational performance to 200 m and fully hermetic packaging, the GeoPoint is practically indestructible. Its patented piezoceramic configuration produces the highest fidelity response available in the industry. An export version of the GeoPoint hydrophone is also available.

GeoPoint Export

The GeoPoint Export is designed to comply with current U.S.A. export restrictions to designated countries while meeting the same performance and reliability specifications as the widely accepted Geopoint hydrophone

AQ-2000 Hydrophone

The AQ-2000 hydrophone represents the latest innovative acoustic sensor technology developed by Teledyne Benthos for shallow or deep water exploration. It is well-suited for both towed streamer and ocean bottom cable (OBC) applications that require stable operating performance over a wide range of water depths. The AQ-2000 has excellent acceleration cancelling qualities and exceptionally wide frequency bandwidth.

Hydrophone Cartridges (Teledyne Benthos)

Teledyne Benthos manufacture a range of Hydrophone Cartridges:

AQ-1 & AQ-16 Hydrophone Cartridges

Rugged, low-cost AQ-1 and AQ-16 hydrophones are cylindrical in shape with through conductors. A spare conductor is provided for series or parallel wiring in tight areas. Their design makes them ideal for use in arrays where towing speeds are high and excellent towing characteristics with minimal noise are required.

AQ-4 Hydrophone Cartridges

The AQ-4 hydrophone is designed to compensate for noise generated from array movement known as acceleration noise. Noise is substantially reduced by symmetrically supporting the active element inside the mounting structure. Teledyne Benthos has achieved exceptional noise cancellation by the use of tight element quality control and the use of custom, automated assembly fixtures.

AQ-2000 Hydrophone

The AQ-2000 hydrophone represents the latest innovative acoustic sensor technology developed by Teledyne Benthos for shallow or deep water exploration. RAFOS Threaded Hydrophone

RAFOS hydrophones are rugged, low-cost sensors with an integral mechanical thread mount and 0-ring seal. The design is ideal for direct attachment to electronics housings and other bulkhead mounting applications.

Cabled Assemblies (Teledyne Benthos)

Cabled assemblies provide a fully waterproof hydrophone moulded onto the end of a cable. These assemblies are deployment ready and are ideal for direct over-the-side listening or permanent installation. These moulded assemblies utilise standard Teledyne Benthos hydrophone cartridges and preamplifiers. These units cover a frequency range from 3 Hz to 100 kHz, the model AQ-20 having been widely used for the recording of whales and other marine life.

Hydrophone Arrays (Teledyne Benthos)

Multi-Element Streamer Hydrophone (MESH) arrays offer a modular, low noise towed hydrophone array for seismic profiling, underwater signal monitoring, environmental sound recording, military acoustic signature detection and marine life tracking. MESH arrays provide a frequency response up to 10 kHz, and are configurable with several hydrophone and preamplifier options.

Preamps (Teledyne Benthos)

Teledyne Benthos preamplifiers are specifically designed for small diameter arrays used to extreme depth ratings.

- The AQ-201 and AQ-202 are single ended units with complimentary direct-coupled output drivers.

- The AQ-300 and AQ-302 have the same features, with the exception of differential input and output circuits.

- The AQ-501 is a low noise, compact, single ended surface mount component preamplifier that is designed to fit inside the hydrophone elements AQ-1 and AQ-16 to form the AQ-503 series pre-amplified hydrophones.
