Oceanographic Systems & Instruments

Representing FSI (Falmouth Scientific Inc), Mooring Systems Inc, and Teledyne Benthos, MKS is uniquely placed to offer a wide variety of sensors and supporting packages to our customers.

MKS can provide numerous CTD and current meters for precise oceanographic measurement, and can also help with the integration of these onto your chosen platform, be it a mooring string or an underwater vehicle.

Products

2D and 3D Acoustic Current Meters (Falmouth Scientific Inc)

The FSI 2D & 3D Acoustic Current Meters use phase-shift technology to provide high-accuracy, 2 axis velocity measurement with excellent low-velocity resolution. The 2D-ACM is a compact, cost-effective meter with vector-averaged current speed and direction. This instrument offers a highly suitable replacement for traditional mechanical ‘point’ current meters, and the unique technology used eliminates the need for backscatter to collect data. The unit is completely user programmable, with the choice of either real-time or internally logged data output. Shallow water and full ocean depth housings are available for both models.

1D Wave & Tide Gauge (Falmouth Scientific Inc)

The FSI 1D-Wave and Tide Sensor combines a highly stable pressure sensor and state-of-the-art electronics to provide accurate point-spectra of waves. Sampling rate is selectable (1 to 5 Hz), and with up to 64 MB of data memory, the 1D Wave and Tide can retain the large amounts of data required for highly detailed wave characterization.

3D Wave & Current Meter (Falmouth Scientific Inc)

The FSI 3D-Wave/Current Meter combines a 3 axis acoustic current meter with micro-machined silicon pressure sensor to provide wave and current speed and direction, as well as wave height and frequency. Data can either be stored internally, or offloaded for real-time analysis. Bottom mount tripods are also available for ease of deployment.

Ocean Sensor Modules (Falmouth Scientific Inc)

FSI's individual sensor modules provide a powerful tool to obtain high-accuracy physical oceanographic data. Three individual modules are available: Ocean Conductivity Module (OCM); Ocean Temperature Module (OTM); and Ocean Pressure Module (OPM). All modules use a low-power micro-controller to collect, scale, and transmit real-time data via RS-232 or RS-485.

WAVETECTOR 2 (IMAA)

A robust, easy to use 1-Dimensional wave/wash measurement buoy. This low-cost, lightweight system can easily be deployed by one person from a launch/tender or equally from a fixed platform such as a pier, jetty or river bank. It plugs directly into the USB port which supplies power to the instrument and returns real-time time data to the computer.

An autonomous version is also in development which can transmit data via radio telemetry.
